Panhe Sculpture Garden

The sculpture garden is named after Sissi’s grandfather, Pan He ‘潘鹤’ (born 1925), a renowned Chinese sculptor. Known for his large-scale works often depicting scenes from revolutionary China, Pan He became an iconic figure in the Chinese art world. As well as collected by the National Museums of China, his sculptures have become landmarks in several Chinese cities, including Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Xiamen, among others.

Over 30 years ago, Sissi’s family acquired the land where the garden now stands, located in a quiet “city village” far from urban centers. Pan He envisioned it as his personal ‘世外桃源’ or countryside retreat, and built a four-story European-style manor surrounded by gardens. Originally a private family space, it became a public sculpture garden on May 4, 2008, after the state proposed honoring Pan He’s legacy. The family insisted on keeping the location due to its sentimental value.

The sculpture garden showcases Sissi’s grandpa as well as her father Pan Fen ‘潘奋’’s works. It is a special place to Sissi’s family and an important place to the city of Guangzhou.

We look forward to welcoming you.
